Azeri lawyer wins court case against Turkish police
Prominent Azerbaijani lawyer and rights champion Intiqam Aliyev has won a court case against Turkish police.
Aliyev was detained and allegedly beaten at Istanbul's Ataturk airport in December 2011 by Turkish police officers. He also received a one-year travel ban to Turkey.
A Turkish court ruled that Aliyev's detention at the airport and the travel ban imposed on him were illegal. The police will have to pay Aliyev 7,500 Turkish lira in compensation for moral damage and 600 lire in material damage.
