Azerbaijan to Introduce Private Pension Funds to Boost Retirement Income
Azerbaijan is preparing to launch a non-state pension fund system in 2026, aimed at providing citizens with additional retirement income sources. According to MP Vugar Bayramov, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection is currently finalizing the legislative framework to allow private funds to operate alongside the state pension system.
The reform will enable citizens to make voluntary contributions to private funds, effectively allowing retirees to receive two separate pensions. Experts suggest that the emergence of private pension funds will not only increase the financial security of retirees but also serve as a vital source of long-term liquidity for Azerbaijan’s capital markets, as these funds are expected to invest heavily in corporate bonds and equities.
