Azerbaijan plans two-stage customs clearance mechanism — source

Azerbaijan plans to introduce a two-stage goods release mechanism in customs to improve business processes and simplify trade operations, a source familiar with the matter told Report.

The initiative предусматривает создание нормативной базы to minimise storage costs and speed up delivery of goods to consumers.

The work is expected to be completed by Dec. 1 by the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.

In parallel, authorities plan to improve the legal framework for a pre-arrival information system for international cargo, to be developed jointly with the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan.

Draft legislation related to the implementation of authorised economic operator (AEO) status is also under preparation. All measures are expected to be finalised by the end of the year.
