Germany resumes dialogue with Iran, chancellor says
Germany has resumed diplomatic contacts with Iran after a prolonged pause, Chancellor Friedrich Merz said.
“After a long period of silence, for which we had good reasons, we as a government are resuming talks with Tehran,” Merz told reporters, according to Euronews.
He added that the negotiations would take place “in coordination with the United States and our European partners.”
According to the chancellor, there had been no high-level talks between Berlin and Tehran since the summer of 2025.
