Ann Taylor under fire for 'hideous Photoshop fail' - PHOTO
Ann Taylor customers are up in arms about what they are calling a 'hideous Photoshop fail' on the retailer's website. In the product picture, a model strikes a pose in a blue bikini swimsuit from the Loft collection, with one arm resting across her body. But upon closer inspection, her waist and hips appear to be two drastically different widths where her hand meets her opposite arm, seemingly cutting out a significant portion of her torso.Twitter users voiced their frustration at the seemingly never-ending phenomenon of airbrushing gone awry.'How does retouching this bad go unnoticed?!' wrote one person. 'And young girls and women try to aspire to be like these false images constantly thrown at us,' said another. And yet another fed up critic tweeted: 'Woman signs up to model a bikini; loses half her waist in hideous airbrush accident.'A spokesperson for Ann Taylor has since responded to the controversy, stating in an email to Jezebel: 'The photo in question was actually only minimally retouched to remove a tattoo.'Admittedly, the photo highlighted the model at an awkward angle, making it look as if there had been significant retouching.'The spokesperson added that the offending photo has been taken down from the website due to the negative reaction. The remaining shot of the same model, which is taken from a side-on angle, appears far more natural. In this second photo, her waist and hips have much more realistic proportions, and her stomach and torso are fully intact. It's not the first time Ann Taylor has come under fire for apparently poor attention to detail when it comes to airbrushed photos. In 2012, the retailer was accused of manipulating pictures to the effect that the models' thumbs looked extremely bent out of shape, and their wrists were all but nonexistent. And in 2009, some observant shoppers noticed that a few models' legs had been stretched several inches, while their waists were shrunken to unearthly proportions.Ann Taylor has also been accused of airbrushing out models' arms in a way that make them appear as if they only have one.(dailymail.co.uk)Bakudaily.az
