East Azeri Platform Reaches 645 Million Barrels of Oil Output
More than 645 million barrels (87 million tonnes) of crude oil have been produced from the East Azeri platform since its inception, according to operator bp Azerbaijan. October 21 marks the 20th anniversary of first oil from the installation, whose launch in 2006 finalized Phase 2 of the full-scale development of the giant Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field, which has yielded 4.7 billion barrels in cumulative production.
By the end of the third quarter of 2026, the platform maintained an average daily output of approximately 46,000 barrels. Currently, around 170 personnel work on the facility, with the vast majority, including both platform managers, being national specialists.
Out of 39 drilled wells, 36 are operational, comprising 27 producers, 8 water injectors, and one cuttings re-injection well. The recently completed D18Z well, featuring over 2,000 meters of open-hole section, achieved the highest reservoir contact area recorded to date across the ACG contract area.
