Ramil Usubov reports on the success of the fight against crime

In 2013 Azerbaijan registered 22,891 crimes , of which 20,465 or 91.4 percent were investigated by the internal affairs agencies and prosecutors, said Interior Minister Ramil Usubov on January 28 at the board meeting of the Interior Ministry, on the results of last year.

 Eighty six  percent of crimes in the country did not have a major public threat , and were less severe; 85.4 percent of crimes investigated by the Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor's Office , have been disclosed.

Minister has focused attention on the fight against corruption in the police. Of the 106 police officers involved in the disciplinary proceedings on 66 facts related to corruption offenses , 84 have been suspended from duty, 20 - demoted ,  and 2 - subject to penalties.

In addition,  341 police officers were subject to applicable penalties , including 118 - in the mistreatment of citizens , 53 - for unjustified detention, 28 - unfounded drives to the police.

According to the minister, no cases of beatings, torture, unlawful conduct a search , illegal use of standard-issue  arm were noted.
