CCTV footage shows young woman knocked out on night bus - VIDEO

A young woman was knocked unconscious while she travelled on a London bus in a violent attack.The 22-year-old was seen in CCTV footage sitting on the upper deck on the route 344 bus towards Clapham Junction when five men get on at Lambeth Road.Police said ‘words were exchanged’ between the woman and the group prior to the incident, which took place at 1.15am on Thursday August 29.She reportedly had her clothing criticised before having a can of drink poured over her and her hair pulled.After getting up from her seat she was pushed and kicked in the stomach, after which she hit her head on the bus floor and was knocked unconscious. Immediately after the assault, the five men got off the bus and headed to Lambeth Walk.The victim was taken to St Thomas’ Hospital with a head injury, which was deemed to be ‘not severe’ and she was released that day.Following an appeal, police revealed a 26-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after attending a south London police station.Detective Constable Kyla Mulley said: ‘This was a shocking attack on a young woman, prompted by nothing more than a brief exchange of words. It is vital we track down this man and hold him to account for his behaviour.
