Russian pundit Sergey Mikheyev has accused US President Barack Obama of endangering the lives of Americans and said that the United States is a threat to peace in the world.

Speaking on Moscow government-owned Centre TV on 2 February, Mikheyev said that Americans would do well to "understand that when Obama is even theoretically allowing the possibility of a military conflict with nuclear Russia he is, in that moment, putting at threat the lives of his citizens". Mikheyev was commenting on an interview Obama recently gave to the CNN.

"Obama must understand that by threatening a possible military conflict with Russia he is effectively threatening his own citizens with a possible destruction in that war," he said.

Mikheyev alleged that the United States "has always" been "prepared to take any steps, up to destroying an independent state". when it "suits" it. "The difference in the current situation is that it is doing that in Europe, it is doing that to Russia, a nuclear power, and it is prepared to effectively sacrifice regional security for that, and put the entire world on the brink of a possible war."

America's "adventurism has gone off the scale". "Whether President Obama understands that or not is a big question." America is "increasingly becoming a problem for and a threat to the whole world," said Mikheyev.

He also argued that Obama was "trying to be seen as strong and successful", but his "extreme rhetoric, extreme degree of aggression" has made him appear "quite weak".
