BP completes drilling of eight wells at Shah Deniz 2

BP has completed the drilling of eight wells as part of the second phase of the Shah Deniz natural gas project, Gordon Birrel, the company’s regional manager, told reporters in Baku.
Eight wells are enough to start production at the Caspian deposit off the Azerbaijani coast, he said.
In total, BP plans to drill 26 wells at Shah Deniz phase 2.
BP has so far granted more than $10 billion of projects for Shah Deniz 2 and South Caucasus Pipeline Expansion (SCPX) projects, Birrel said.
"We are on plan and on budget,” he said.
The BP manager also said:
* The SCPX project is 31% complete including engineering and land acquisition
* The expansion of Sangachal terminal to accommodate the expansion of Shah Deniz 2 natural gas is progressing "very well”
* The construction of two jackets for offshore platforms and two decks has started in Baku yards
* Large amounts of equipment including compressors and vessels produced "all over the world” have started arriving in Baku for installation into platforms
* The construction of two large compressor stations have started in Georgia
* A total of 12,500 people are involved in Shah Deniz 2 and SCPX projects
