Photographer captures stunning portraits of flame-haired women

A freckled woman lies on a patch of grass, tendrils of flame-coloured hair spread out behind her; the scene littered with constrasting white daises.

This beautiful yet arresting image was captured by Bosnian photographer, Maja Topcagic, 25, as part of her photo-series, Freckled.

A personal project Maja started two years ago, the portraits feature ladies with various intensities of red in their locks, and all with another thing in common - their exposed freckles.

In one image, a red-haired model hides her face behind a large sunflower, sharp piercing-blue eyes peering out.

Another image focuses on a woman with her face immersed in dainty wild flowers - smatterings of apricot-coloured freckles displayed on her nose and cheeks.

One woman, made up in scarlet lipstick and matching nails, looks directly into the camera, clusters of freckles peppering almost every part of her face.

Another flame-haired model has her sandy hair dishevelled around her, tendrils crossing her face, almost blending in with the freckles.

One of the models sports comparatively darker hair, in an auburn shade, comprised of a wild curls.

All of the models look relatively fresh from makeup, in order to allow their freckles to come through.

The 25-year-old photographer explained that her fascination with the hair colour and facial markings were down to their unique occurrence.

Maja admitted: 'I find inspiration in the unique beauty that redheads with freckles have.

'Freckles used to be considered undesirable and unsightly, but today they are appreciated in the world of photography.'
