Reporters to be allowed to front line only by National Security Ministry

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the rule for coordination with the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan of the accreditation of reporters in areas along the front line and their sending to areas along the front line.

This rule defines the rules for the accreditation of reporters in areas along the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops and coordination with the Defense Ministry of the sending of mass media outlet representatives to areas along the contact line. 

Mass media can accredit its representatives in compliance with the accreditation rule defined by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. In accordance with the rule, necessary documents have to be presented to the Defense Ministry. The term of accreditation is one year, News.Az reports. 

Limits on the number of mass media representatives to be accredited have also been determined. Television – two filming crews (journalist, cameraman, and technical staff), radio – two journalists, information agencies – two journalists and two photographers, periodical publications – two journalists and two photographers, internet information resource – one journalist, other forms of broadcasting – one journalist. The Defense Ministry will review documents presented for accreditation within 15 days after being received. During the review, the Ministry of National Security gives a reference in seven days and a decision is made after that. Accredited journalists are given accreditation cards.
