The risk of an increase in the incidence of this subvariant is expected in late May, Head of the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) Anna Popov said reported from Russian media.
She noted that the variant is highly contagious and knows how to bypass previously formed immunity. The disease has the symptoms of SARS, with most cases not requiring hospitalization, she added.
"We checked our tests, they are all made in such a way that they reveal the new genovariant, in exactly the same way as all the predecessors,” Popova said.
