Russia lost over 200 military pilots during Ukraine war

In total, Russia has lost at least 216 military pilots since the start of the war in Ukraine. The preparation of each of them requires at least 6 years and more than $3 million, reported from BBC News.

During 2023 alone, the Russian Federation lost at least 62 military pilots.

Another 13 Russian military pilots died in 2023 on Russian territory during the rebellion of Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin.

In total, the outlet managed to establish the names of 45,123 Russian occupiers who died in the war in Ukraine since February 2022.

Of these, at least 6,614 were killed from October 2023 to February 2024, that is, during the period when Russian units were advancing near Avdiivka and in the neighboring areas of the Donetsk Oblast.

The total losses of the Russian side in 2023 amounted to 27,906 people, which is 57% more than the confirmed losses for the first year of full-scale hostilities in Ukraine (16,044 people), the outlet says.

As for officer casualties, four Russian generals (Andrei Sukhovetsky, Vladimir Frolov, Kanamat Botashev and Roman Kutuzov) died in the first four months of the war. Then, for exactly a year, there were no confirmed losses in the highest ranks of Russian officers.

From June to October 2023 - that is, during the period of the Ukrainian counter-offensive - the Russian side lost at least 413 officers, including 44 military personnel with the rank of lieutenant colonel and two generals.
