Russia says EU presence in Armenia destabilizes South Caucasus

The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly commented on the confrontational nature of the European Union's "semi-military" presence in Armenia, according to the ministry's spokesperson Maria Zakharova.

According to the information , during a briefing, Zakharova stated that the evidence of the EU mission's destabilizing role is obvious. "The anti-Russian, anti-Azerbaijani, and anti-Iranian objectives of this mission are becoming increasingly evident. Especially when NATO countries began to get involved, everything became completely clear," she said.

Zakharova emphasized that nothing but the destabilization of the military-political situation and the transformation of the region into an "arena of geopolitical rivalry" can be expected from the EU.

"We are confident that all the pressing issues facing the South Caucasus today should and can be resolved through the collective efforts of regional states, without outside interference," she concluded.
