Russian Embassy: Strategic role of Caspian region to continue to grow
12.08.2024 13:20
Given the geostrategic, political, transport and economic potential of the Caspian region, its role as a key link located in the heart of Eurasia will continue to grow, according to a publication by the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan dedicated to the International Day of the Caspian Sea, which is celebrated on August 12.

"The importance of the North-South international transport corridor, which passes through all the Caspian countries, is also increasing. The progressive development of five-way cooperation in the region in trade, economic, energy, transport and other areas continues," the publication notes.

The Russian Embassy also emphasized the importance of resolving issues related to the ecology of the Caspian Sea: "This work requires increasing the joint efforts of all coastal countries to preserve biological diversity, rationally use available resources, combat pollution of the reservoir and its current shallowing, conduct the necessary research and take preventive measures."

"It is important to continue to maintain and deepen friendly, good-neighborly relations between the coastal states, to strengthen the unity of the "five" based on common approaches to various challenges and problems, and to promote the transformation of the Caspian into a zone of peace, good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation," the publication says.
