Moscow took timely measures to reduce the risks from the actions of the West, and is more actively switching to settlements in national currencies, including with Azerbaijan, Denis Gonchar, Director of the Fourth Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"We started to take measures in advance to reduce the risks associated with the actually unscrupulous actions of the West in the global economy," Gonchar said, answering the question of how the crisis in Russia's relations with the West affects Moscow's cooperation with Azerbaijan and other republics of the near abroad.

"According to available expert estimates, about 30% of trade between Russia and Azerbaijan is carried out in rubles. The very architecture of Russian-Azerbaijani economic ties is generally little affected by external negative factors and quickly adapts to non-standard situations," the diplomat stressed.
