The senior diplomat of the American diplomatic mission in Moscow was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, he was handed a note of protest due to the failure of the US Embassy to process visas for the journalistic pool of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement released on Thursday, reported from TASS.

"The senior diplomat of the American diplomatic mission in Moscow, summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on April 27, was given an official demarche with a note of protest over the provocative actions of the US diplomatic mission, which disrupted visa processing for media representatives from the journalistic pool of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Lavrov, who were supposed to accompany him on the trip to New York within the Russian presidency of the UN Security Council,” the ministry said.

The ministry noted that the Russian Federation will continue to work out responses to US actions against Russian journalists.
