Moscow continues to work to resolve the most acute contradictions between Armenia and Russia, as well as to conclude a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov said at a briefing for foreign military attaches, reported from Sputnik Armenia.

Gerasimov noted that Russia is carrying out targeted work on the political track to unblock transport communications in the South Caucasus, conclude a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan, as well as resolve the most acute Armenian-Azerbaijani contradictions.

"The situation in the South Caucasus remains tense, but has a steady tendency towards stabilization,” Gerasimov said.

He noted that the Russian military contingent continues to carry out tasks in Karabakh.
