Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili commented on the completion of the preparation of an agreement on the opening of new customs checkpoints between Georgia and Russia through the territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
'According to the agreement I reached in 2012, points were set up exclusively at our internationally
recognised borders. This capitulation of Ivanishvili will have long-term disastrous consequences for Georgian statehood!' Saakashvili wrote on his Facebook page.
The agreement reached between Russia and Georgia involves the opening of checkpoints and posts in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the work of which will be
organised by a third party - the Swiss company SGS.
