The Trans-Caspian international transport route is very important for the development of regional ties, Sodiq Safoyev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, said at the 4th International Conference on "Shaping the Geopolitics of the Greater Eurasia: from Past to Present to Future,” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev.

According to him, the development of railway communication is a good opportunity for broader cooperation between the two countries.

"Uzbekistan is a country that is located far from seaports. From an economic point of view, this is a disadvantage and causes difficulties. In this regard, the One Belt One Road initiative is a great and profitable alternative for Uzbekistan," he said.

Safoyev also noted that in difficult days for Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan led by Heydar Aliyev helped the country.

"Heydar Aliyev is an excellent example of a true leader," he added.
