According to Scholz, the West should be prepared for the fact that "Russian aggression will last quite a long time." Therefore, NATO allies are preparing and adapting policies to this.
"Germany will support Ukraine for as long as it takes. We have the necessary funding in our budget and the industry is increasing its capabilities for the production, repair and maintenance of weapons," Scholz stressed.
Germany has been providing Ukraine with military assistance almost from the very beginning of full-scale hostilities. The country has already donated armored vehicles and anti-aircraft missile launchers. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received the latest Leopard 2A6 tanks.
Also, the German defense concern Rheinmetall plans to produce modern tanks and infantry fighting vehicles in Ukraine.
