Slovakia transfers military aid worth 671M euros to Ukraine

Slovakia has transferred military aid to Ukraine totaling $671 million, according to the Bratislava newspaper Pravda,  reported from TASS.

Bratislava sent Kyiv, in particular, a squadron of MiG-29 supersonic fighters withdrawn from the Slovak Air Force and the S-300 air defense system. In addition, on the basis of a commercial contract, the Ukrainian Armed Forces received eight Zuzana-2 self-propelled howitzers.

Additionally, a contract for the supply of 16 Zuzana-2 howitzers to Ukraine is being implemented. Its cost is 93 million euros. Funds were provided by Denmark, Norway and Germany. The production of these artillery installations is carried out by the military-industrial complex company Konstrukta-Defence, having suspended the order previously received from the Slovak Ministry of Defense.

Zuzana-2 howitzers have been in service with the Slovak Armed Forces since 2021. The Ministry of Defense back in 2018 sent Konstrukta-Defence an order for the production of 25 such guns, of which 17 were delivered to the troops. Robert Kalinak, appointed minister of defense on October 25 of this year, demands to sort out the delays in supplies for the Slovak army. It is possible that the management of the company, part of the state arms holding DMD, will be replaced.
