SOCAR President Rovnaq Abdullayev held a meeting with an Iranian delegation headed by the minister of communication and information technology, Mahmoud Vaezi, the company said on its website.
Abdullayev emphasized the successful development of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations and said the visit of the president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to Iran in April gave a new impetus to the expansion of relations between the countries.
The SOCAR president said Iranian companies were successfully working in the oil and gas sector of Azerbaijan and added that the two countries have rich experience in this sphere, which creates large potential for economic cooperation between them.
Vaezi said they were deeply impressed by the rapid social and economic development in Azerbaijan. The Iranian delegation will attend the meeting and business forum held by the State Commission for economy, trade and humanitarian issues. Mr. Vaezi expressed gratitude for good cooperation opportunity created for Iran’s NICO in Shah Deniz and South Caucasus Pipeline projects and said he believed that cooperation in the oil and gas sphere would contribute to the economic development of both countries.
The sides underlined large prospects for deepening energy cooperation and discussed other points of interest.
