Azerbaijan’s state energy company SOCAR has started repairs at its Heydar Aliyev refinery in the capital, Baku.
After the work due to be completed by 2019, the quality of gasoline produced by the refinery will meet Euro-5 standards, SOCAR Vice President Tofiq Qahramanov said.
Gasoline production will increase to 2.2 million tons a year from the current 1.3 million tons. Diesel output will grow to 2.9 million tons a year from 2.3 million tons.
The first phase of the reconstruction and modernization work will be completed in 2018 and the second phase will end in 2019.
SOCAR will export 25 percent of gasoline and 40 percent of diesel.
The project will cost 1.2 billion manat, which will be covered by the government.
