Spain loses first qualifier in 28 years

Spain lost their first World Cup qualifier in 28 years to a loss to Sweden.

Sweden recovered from their goal and gave Spain a 2-1 loss.

The game was barely five minutes old when Spanish debut Carlos Soler put the guests in the lead with a smart volley from Jordi Alba’s cross.

However, the lead didn’t take long, as a minute later, Alexander Isak of Real Sociedad, Spain, took advantage of Sergio Busquets’ error on the edge of the box to make up.

Viktor Claesson caught everyone off guard with a great opening pass – but unfortunately, Jjanentus was as surprised by the move as anybody else and managed to miss the extraordinary opportunity.

Sweden rose to nine points with three wins from three matches to the top of Group B, while Spain dropped to second with seven points after playing the match more.

Throughout this period, Spain gained 52 victories and held 14 draw games.
