Tanap awards pipeline construction contracts

The SOCAR-led Tanap Dogalgaz Iletim company has picked companies that will build a 56-inch pipeline from the Georgian border to Turkey’s Eskisehir province.

The first 375-km section of the pipeline will be built by Fernas Insaat, the company said in an e-mailed statement.

The second, 375 km to 825 km section, will be paid by a group of companies including Sicim, Yuksel and Akkord.

The third, 825 km to 1,334 km section, will be constructed by Tekfen Insaat ve Tesisat.

Azerbaijan’s state energy company SOCAR holds 70 percent of Tanap, which will deliver Azeri natural gas to Europe via Turkey.

Turkey’s state pipeline company BOTAS holds the remaining 30 percent.

BP is also expected to join the project by buying 12 percent equity.
