Tehran-Baku determined to connect rail route

After a two day visit to Azerbaijan, Iranian Minister of Communications and IT Mahmoud Vaezi, returned to Tehran and recounted the achievements of his trip.


"One of the good agreements made in this trip was about resolving issues related to banking relations between the two countries," said Mahmoud Vaezi, Iran's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, in an interview with Iranian media about his two day visit to Azerbaijan.


The Iranian minister who heads the joint economic commission of the two countries recounted that the volume of bilateral trade between Iran and Azerbaijan has increased by 75 percent since the last session of the joint economic commission and even more agreements to improve the trend has been made.


"There have also been good talks held about building a pharmaceutical plant, an Iranian hospital, and a joint production line of car industry in Neftchala city of Azerbaijan," recounted the Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology; "we have also agreed to resolve, within two months, all the issues related to construction of a rail bridge over the border of the two countries to connect the Iranian city of Astara with Azerbaijani city of Astara."


He also recounted that a committee has been formed to do the financing needed for the Rasht-Astara rail route.
