Two groups of students clashed at Ankara University on Monday after one of them attempted to commemorate Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink on the eighth anniversary of his assassination while the other attempted to deliver a press statement regarding the French weekly Charlie Hebdo, which saw a deadly terrorist attack on Jan. 7, Today's Zaman reported.
The two groups fought outside of the university's campus, with one of the groups using bats and stones against the other.
Riot police who arrived at the scene dispersed the students by firing tear gas canisters.
The group that started the fight took refuge on campus grounds, and the police took extra security measures around the campus.
