It's a feature Apple fans have been wishing for and it seems the US tech giant may finally be including it.

Apple's next OS update may be about to include the option to hide the apps that are preinstalled on iPhones.

Stocks, Game Center, Tips, Calendar, Videos, Voice Memos, Reminders, iBooks, Apple Watch, Notes, and News are all useful but not everyone wants them taking up valuable screen space.

Other than creating a folder there's currently no way to hide these Apple-owned apps but this could soon change.

Code in the latest version of iTunes suggests that some iOS apps could soon be hidden.

According to research by AppAdvice there's some new metadata appearing on every Apple app in the App Store, .

These tweaks suggests that apps like Compass, Health, Podcasts and more will soon be able to be completely hidden.

Apple is expected to unveil the latest version of its mobile operating system, dubbed iOS 10, at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

CEO Tim Cook previously hinted that the company was looking into a way to hide the slew of preinstalled iOS apps.

"This is a more complex issue than it first appears," he told John Paczkowski for BuzzFeed, back in September 2015.

"There are some apps that are linked to something else on the iPhone.

"If they were to be removed they might cause issues elsewhere on the phone. There are other apps that aren’t like that.

"So over time, I think with the ones that aren’t like that, we’ll figure out a way [for you to remove them] …

"It’s not that we want to suck up your real estate, we’re not motivated to do that. We want you to be happy.

"So I recognise that some people want to do this, and it’s something we’re looking at."

Night Shift aims to help get you a better night's sleep to using your current location, combined with the clock on your device, to work out when the sun will set.

Your iPhone or iPad will then automatically shift the colours in your display to the warmer end of the spectrum.

Other features in iOS 9.3 include the ability to secure your doodles in Apple Notes with a password or using the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

You can also sort notes by date created, date modified, or alphabetically.
