That could become a problem of the past for commuters if this new bus is made operational.
Footage of a scaled-down model of the Transit Elevated Bus (TEB) shows the main passenger area lifted over the traffic beneath.
A digital mock-up of how the bus would work in practice shows how both cars and the bus are able to move freely without blocking each other.
The invention was recently unveiled in China at a tech festival in the capital.
Reports show that the bus could become operational in the second half of 2016 in certain parts of China.
The public aren’t quite convinced however with social media users speculating that the TEB would be a danger to other drivers.
One commented: "It’s an amazing concept, but it is a bad idea.”
Many others wondered how the bus would cope with lorries and other tall vehicles.
Surely any bus driver would jump at the chance to drive the TEB except this guy after he bagged himself a £6.1m Lotto win.
