Three Armenian soldiers were killed in clashes with Azerbaijani troops on March 19 in the Armenian-occupied region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Hakop Khachatryan, 19, Eduard Hayrapetyan, 20, and Arshak Haryutyunyan, 20, were killed in fighting near the village of Gulustan in the north of Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenian Defense Ministry said.
Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry did not immediately confirm the report of enemy deaths. The ministry said on its website Armenians violated the cease-fire 58 times in the past 24 hours.
Armenia captured nearly one-fifth of Azerbaijan’s internationally-recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts, in a war after the Soviet breakup in 1991.
While major hostilities ended with a cease-fire in 1994, no peace agreement has been signed.
Armenia has yet to comply with four UN Security Council resolutions calling for immediate and unconditional withdrawal from the occupied territory.
