The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has referred to Khaled Mashal as the acting head of the Hamas political bureau following the death of Ismail Haniyeh, according to the information , which cites Turkish media.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Mashal in the Qatari capital, Doha, to express his condolences over Haniyeh's passing.

The meeting was also attended by two of Haniyeh's sons.
