A group of high-ranking Turkish army officers have arrived in Azerbaijan for a familiarization visit.

The group, led by Col-Gen Atilla Gulen, head of the Logistics Department of the Turkish Military Staff, will be holding meetings in the Azeri capital during the two-day visit.

Azerbaijan has forged close military ties with NATO-member Turkey after regaining its independence from the former Soviet Union in 1991.

The two countries are bound by ethnic, religious and economic ties.
