Turkish opposition leader Kilicdaroglu won’t step down after defeat in elections

The leader of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) of Türkiye, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who was the only candidate from the opposition in the presidential elections, doesn’t intend to leave his post after the defeat on May 28 in the second round of voting, reported from TASS.

After losing in the second round of the presidential elections to the incumbent Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Kilicdaroglu announced that he would continue the fight against the ‘authoritarian regime.’

In the party led by Kilicdaroglu, according to local media, citing sources in the CHP, voices are increasingly heard about the need to change the leader, who has not won a single national election since 2010 while leading the party.
