Türkiye does not exclude the possibility of the soonest discovery of new oil reserves from the field in the region of Mount Gabar in the southeastern province of Shirnak, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez said.

"The work on drilling and evaluation of well reserves is nearing completion. The first estimates of the data are positive, but we are waiting for the final results. The President [Recep Tayyip Erdogan] will share the final data with the people," the minister said, commenting on the ongoing work in Shirnak.

Reported from Anadolu that, according to the minister, efforts to explore domestic deposits continue both offshore and onshore.

"The Esma Chevik field was discovered in Shirnak with an oil reserve of 180 million barrels last year," the minister recalled.
