A resident of Azerbaijan’s western Tovuz District and an army serviceman were wounded by Armenian fire late yesterday, APA reported.
Etibar Tagiyev, who lives in the village of Alibayli on the Armenian border, was injured in the leg. He was hospitalized.
The serviceman was also wounded in the leg, the Baku-based news service said, without giving further detail.
Armenia, backed by Russia, seized nearly 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s internationally-recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent districts, in a war after the Soviet breakup in 1991.
Large-scale hostilities ended with a ceasefire 20 years ago but no peace agreement has been reached.
