UK joins EU restrictions on steel imports from Russia

he UK (along with Switzerland and Norway) has joined their EU partners to ban the import of Russian steel and cast iron,  reported from TASS.

When importing goods made from ferrous metals from these countries, EU importers do not need documentary evidence that the raw materials do not originate in Russia.

In March 2022, the European Union banned the import of steel and cast iron from Russia. In October 2022, the EU banned imports of rolled steel and semi-finished products from Russia, but granted a grace period for certain types of slabs until October 1, 2024. Later, the grace period for the possible import of certain types of steel semi-finished products into the EU was extended until October 1, 2028.

The European Union has also approved the 13th package of sanctions against Russia, and thus introduced restrictive measures against 106 individuals and 88 legal entities.
