This is the biggest amount received to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine in one payment in foreign currency from foreign philanthropists since the beginning of the war with the Russian Federation.
"We are grateful to the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office for this significant charitable contribution to Ukraine's defense not only of its own freedom and independence, but also of peace and democratic values around the world. We highly appreciate the partnership with the UK government and are grateful for the comprehensive support of Ukraine in the fight against the Russian aggressor,” said the head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Kyrylo Shevchenko.
He also added that almost a fifth of the funds received in foreign currency to support the Ukrainian military to the special account of the NBU are donations in pounds sterling.
