Ukraine won’t participate in OSCE meeting because of Lavrov

Ukraine won’t take part in the OSCE ministerial meeting in Skopje (North Macedonia), which will take place from November 29 to December 1. The reason for this is the participation of the Russian delegation, in particular, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oleh Nikolenko said,  reported from RBC-Ukraine.

"The Ukrainian delegation won’t participate in the OSCE ministerial meeting at the level of the Minister of Foreign Affairs,” he stated.

At the same time, according to Nikolenko, Ukraine remains committed to the principles of the OSCE and is ready to continue working with partners to restore respect for the Helsinki Final Act, in particular based on the implementation of the Peace Formula of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"Ukraine highly appreciates the efforts of North Macedonia as the presiding state in 2023 and personally by Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani, who have demonstrated high professionalism and an unwavering commitment to defending the principles and commitments of the OSCE,” the speaker added.

The ministry said that within the organization, Russia systematically blocked consensus on key issues.

"Russia illegally detained three Ukrainian representatives of the OSCE, who have been in prison for more than 500 days. Russia has created an existential crisis in the OSCE and turned the organization into a hostage to its whims and aggression,” Nikolenko added.
