Ukraine’s Leopard 2 maintenance center to open in Poland in May

The maintenance center for Leopard 2 tanks, which Ukraine received from the allies, will start operating next month in Poland. The tanks will be repaired at the Bumar Labedy SA Mechanical Plant in Gliwice, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said, reported from UNIAN.

He noted that the creation of a base for Leopard 2 will contribute to the creation of new jobs in Gliwice. The plant for the center’s creation was not chosen by chance. The company has been servicing and repairing Leopard 2A4 tanks for 20 years. There, the mentioned equipment is being upgraded to the 2PL model.

On April 23, Spain announced that it had sent 6 tanks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and 4 more Leopard 2s would be delivered after repairs as soon as possible.

Denmark and the Netherlands promised to send 14 tanks to Ukraine. They are scheduled to be delivered in early 2024.
