Ukrainian political analyst: Putin will not use nuclear weapons

Vladimir Putin's apparent threats to use nuclear weapons are, of course, related to the current difficult phase of relations between Russia and the West, Ukrainian political analyst Taras Berezovets said.

"As you know, French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as a number of other Western leaders, have announced the possibility of sending the armed forces of several Western countries to the territory of Ukraine. At the moment, there is no question of their direct participation in military operations. However, these words greatly worried the Kremlin and caused hysterical reactions," Berezovets emphasized.

According to him, Putin declared that the presence of any armed forces of Western countries on the territory of Ukraine would lead them to war with the risk of using nuclear weapons at the same time: "I think these threats will not be implemented in a practical way. It can be seen from the published archives of Western intelligence that Putin really approached the dangerous line in Ukraine at the end of 2022. But then, thanks to the position of China and India, the Russian President gave up his intention. Currently, there is no danger of Putin using nuclear weapons either in Ukraine or in third countries."

"They can threaten specific governments of the Baltic countries, possibly Central Europe, or countries that will actively help Ukraine in the war. But despite this, there is no danger of Putin using nuclear weapons today. This should be clearly understood. This is a purely virtual threat and will not have any real development," he added.
