The new representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Azerbaijan, Andro Shilkadze, has praised the country's policy towards children, state news agency Azartac reported.
In a meeting with the head of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children's Affairs, Hijran Huseynova, he stressed the necessity of deepening bilateral cooperation with the Azerbaijani government.
Huseynova said that the protection of children's rights and the settlement of their problems were among key government priorities.
She lauded the role of Azerbaijan's First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, who is the president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in ensuring favorable conditions for strengthening the protection of children's rights and providing them with quality education.
