The US and Azerbaijan signed an Open Skies Agreement last April that "liberalizes" the bilateral aviation relationship and facilitates trade and travel between the two counties, the State Department announced Tuesday.
"The new Open Skies Agreement deepens commercial and economic ties between the United States and Azerbaijan," said a State Department release. "The agreement will benefit US and Azerbaijani airlines, travelers, businesses, airports, and localities by allowing increased market access for passengers and cargo." The agreement was the result of over three years of negotiations, the statement affirmed.
