US asks Turkish President Erdogan for help to achieve ceasefire in Gaza

Outgoing US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has held numerous meetings with regional actors regarding bringing HAMAS back to the negotiating table and has sought help from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on this matter, reported from Haber Global.

"In recent weeks, we went also to other actors, including Türkiye and President Erdogan, to use his weight and influence to get Hamas back to the table to try to conclude an agreement," Blinken stated.

Meanwhile, Blinken expressed complete confidence that the ceasefire between Israel and HAMAS in Gaza will begin to be implemented on Sunday:

"I am confident and I fully expect that implementation will begin, as we said, on Sunday. Look, it’s not exactly surprising that in a process – in a negotiation that has been this challenging and this fraught, you may get a loose end. We’re tying up that loose end as we speak.”

HAMAS and Israel have signed an agreement on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of hostages held in the enclave with Palestinian prisoners.
