He demonstrated his incredible flexibility and prowess at martial arts in many of his early movies including Kickboxer and Double Impact.
But now at the age of 53, Jean-Claude Van Damme is showing he is still as supple as ever.
The Belgian star action performs the splits in between two moving vehicles in a new advertisement for Volvo trucks.
Folding his arms, the star balances perfectly with his legs in horizontal position between the trucks which are reversing along what appears to be a runway.
The commercial starts with a close up of the actor talking directly to the camera while standing in a more upright position between the moving vehicles.
'I've had my ups and downs,' he says. 'My fair share of bumpy roads and heavy winds. That's what made me what I am today.
'Now I stand here before you. What you see is a body crafted to perfection. A pair of legs engineered to defy the laws of physics and a mindset to master the most epic of splits.'
Jean-Claude then perfectly holds his pose as the camera then pans out to show the stunning stunt.
The commercial then states: 'This test was set up to demonstrate the stability and precision of Volvo Dynamic steering. It was carried out by professionals in a closed-off area.'
Although some safety equipment was digitally removed, no computer trickery was involved on camera and the stunt is genuine, according to Volvo.
Nicknamed the 'muscles from Brussels' when he first made his name in hits including Universal Soldier and Timecop, Jean-Claude specialised in Kickboxing and Karate and also studied ballet.
However, the star suffered a string of flops inn the early 2000s before making his movie comeback with the critically acclaimed JCVD in 2008 which he plays a fictionalised version of himself.
He also appeared as the main villain alongside Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger in last year's hit The Expendables Two.
His next action thriller film Enemies Closer, is set for release in the U.S. next month.
