Volodymyr Oleksandrovich Zelenskyy was born on January 25, 1978 in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine.
He graduated from secondary school in 1995. Zelenskyy earned a law degree from the Kryvyi Rih Institute of Economics, then a department of Kyiv National Economic University and now part of Kryvyi Rih National University, but never worked in the legal field.
In September 2003, he married Olena Zelenska, his friend from school. The couple had a daughter named Oleksandra on July 15, 2004, and a son named Kyrylo on January 21, 2013.
