Watch a 2,000-horsepower Lamborghini Gallardo crash into a lake at full speed

We learned last week that the Lamborghini Gallardo’s replacement, the Huracan, can do well over 200-mph before crashing, so how would a 2,000-horsepower Gallardo fare on a top speed run in Florida?

As it turns out, things got equally crashy, but this time water was involved. Captured on video for the world to see, the 2,000-horsepower custom Italian supercar makes a top speed run on an airstrip next to a small pond.

The driver loses control about half way down the 1/2-mile stretch, and veers off to the right into a small standing pond. As a result of having almost 4 times as much power as stock and almost zero extra down force, the car likely lost traction somewhere above 100-mph. Just goes to show that even in a supercar, all-wheel-drive is useless unless you know how to use it.

Water damage is a pain to treat for any car, let alone a several-hundred-thousand-dollar Lamborghini, but luckily the car looked relatively unscathed and the water was not terribly deep.

As for the driver, he walked away unscathed as well, although his ego might be a bit bruised after this immortalized accident.
