Wildfires cover almost 1 million hectares in Russia’s Yakutia

Wildfires raging in Yakutia (Sakha) Republic of Russia's Siberia has spread to over 936,000 hectares, the Russian Emergencies Ministry Main Directorate for the region said in a statement, reported from Reuters.

As many as 1,832 people and 157 units of equipment from all operating structures of the Internal Affairs Ministry of the region are involved in extinguishing the fire.

Sakha deputy minister of ecology, nature management and forestry Andrey Konoplev, said at a briefing that 16 forest fires covering an area of ​​891 hectares were reported in the region over the past 24 hours.
