Armenian women will be able to volunteer for 6-month military service, Defense Minister Suren Papikyan said, reported from  the Armenian media.

The Defense Ministry of Armenia proposed amendments and additions to the laws "On Defense" and "On Military Service and the Status of Serviceman." The amendments will grant the female citizens of Armenia the right to military service, but on a voluntary basis.

Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, who presented the draft, said that a period of military service of 6 months would be established for women who wish to join the army.
